San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith will likely earn a $ 1 million bonus when he appears in the first playoff game ofhis NFL career, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Smith's one-year, $ 4 million contract with the 49ers containsup to $ 3 million in incentives. According to a league source,half of that was tied to Smith, playing in 80 percent of theteam's offensive snaps this season, which the 16-gamestarter easily accomplished. Another tier was linked to Smith,playing in 70 percent of the offensive snaps this season and70 percent of the snaps in today's playoff game.
